The Value We Hold In Our Children’s Future

Sharing is caring!

I was recently reminded by a very wise man, that we should be learning something new everyday. Today I learned something that shed some light on my roll as a mother. I felt inspired, enlightened, and impressed in many different areas.  My second oldest son was baptized today. He recently turned 8 and in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, this is the age you get baptized and recieve the Holy Ghost.

Today was his big day, and it was a beautiful day.

It's hard not to worry about our kids future. Here is the value we hold in our Child' Future

My son was able to share this day with his second cousin, who he loves to death! The special thing about these 2 boys, is that their grandpas are brothers. These two amazing grandpas died early in life, leaving a big hole in a lot of our hearts. Today, as our families joined together to watch these two boys be baptized, I was overcome with an impression that these two amazing men were near. It was such an incredibly sweet feeling that I didn’t want to let go!

With those feelings, I want to share what I learned as a mother today. I think as mothers we have this built in worry for our children.

  • How are they going to turn out?
  • What kind of men will they be?
  • Will they go on a mission?
  • Will they work hard and serve others?
  • Am I doing enough so these boys are ready for life?

Am I the only mother that does this???? As I was sitting and listening to the beautiful music and talks that were given today, I had this thought come to my head.

Don’t worry about your boy’s futures. Instead cherish today, for today they are happy and well.

I can’t help but think that these two wonderful men and grandpas, who many of us felt there with us today, shared this impression with me. I don’t know what the future holds for each one of my boys. I don’t know the type of men they will turn in to. What I do know is that I can love my boys today. I can hug them and tell them how much they are loved. I can share with them my testimony and help them build their testimonies of who they are, and where they are going!

If we stop worrying about what the future holds, then we can focus our attention on today. Instead of asking the questions above you can ask yourself,

  • Have I told my boys I love them?
  • Have I taught my boys of their Heavenly Father in someway?
  • Am I doing my best to be the best example I can for my boys?

As we opened the meeting today singing, We’ll Bring the World His Truth, I sat unable to sing as tears streamed down my face. Our children that we have been entrusted with, will “take the gospel to all the world“. I feel that this is such an overwhelming privilege to be a part of, that I thank my Heavenly Father for daily. We must first focus on today, and trust in our Heavenly Father’s plan for our children.

I know it is hard, but we need to stop worrying about tomorrow. Take today and do the best you can. Love your children, teach your children, be with your children.

I LOVE these 2 quotes I found. I’m not sure who said them but they are great non the less.

Don’t cry over the past, it’s gone. Don’t stress about the future, it hasn’t arrived. Live in the present and make it beautiful.

Worrying does not empty tomorrow of its troubles, it empties today of its strength!
